MONDAY MOOD: Smoothie Recipe the Whole Fam Will Love

Alright ladies I’m back with a Monday Mood where I tackle lots of mamahood organization hacks, workout equipment I swear by, and all that Lifestyle content you girls ask about! For this week’s post, I’m sharing my kiddos Favorite Smoothie recipe and a go-to during these Quarantine Zoom breaks! And since they’re super healthy and filling, you know I’m here for them too. I hope this is a fun little recipe for any mama’s trying to sneak in those nutrients or you girls who are just on the lookout for a new smoothie.

Before I share the recipe, I have to give a big shoutout to the Vitamix! I know it’s pricey but for how much we use it around our house, totally worth it. Luca is so picky when it comes to texture and seeds in his smoothies and I can literally put anything in this and he takes it down no problem. Nothing blends better and it’s so easy to use! I use for smoothies but also some homemade salad dressings, random sauces, margaritas, etc. Again, totally worth the one-time investment.

Oh and you girls have sent in lots of questions about the Smoothie Cups I’ve shared on Stories and these Stainless Tumblers are the BEST! Here are our Metal Straws too that are easy to clean and they’re obviously reusable.

What I use…

We kinda switch up our fruits and all that depending on what I have in the freezer but love to pack them with protein, lots of fruit (obviously), omegas, fiber and a juice base that slightly sweet but still in the lower sugar side.

  • Organic Frozen Fruits (I buy pre-sliced Organic frozen bags bc they’re much faster to use and they keep smoothies cold).
  • Greek Yogurt– high in protein and lower in sugar. Chobani Vanilla is great if your kiddos want a little sweetness.
  • Ground Flax Seeds (fiber and omegas and the kids never know!).
  • Juice Base – I like to try to stick to bases lower in sugar so I use flavored coconut water (packed with electrolytes) or Honest Juice.

I don’t measure these out perfectly because it’s always  kind of a toss in and blend quickly- but trust me you can’t really mess it up! If you find your smoothie not blending easily just add more liquid.

I am so tempted to start adding some greens in there too because the Vitamix really does blend everything so well so i’ll keep you posted if the kids notice. How about you mamas….what healthy items do you like to “sneak” into your kids smoothies?!
