There were several requests on Instagram for what I packed for New York so today I’m sharing everything in my suitcase. New York is somewhere I like to bring all the fun the looks but Winter (…and traveling with the kids) always forces me to lean a little more on the practical side versus what I really want to wear in the city. I try to find a balance between the two, so here’s what I packed…
Elevated Basics
I always start with elevated basics and then sprinkle in fun accessories, cute tops, and great coats. I also bring two pairs of denim that can be worn day into night and one fun pair of leather pants to dress up looks for the dinner.
Outerwear
I brought three coats this trip. This Winter Jacket has been one of my best investments. It warm, waterproof, and most of all, I love the cinched waist so it still compliments the figure.
This Faux Fur Jacket is a new addition this year. I wanted something I could wear out to date nights and holiday gatherings and this one is perfect. It’s super soft and really warm too.
Wool coats were something I saw everyone wearing in the city. I purchased my Aves Les Filles wool coat a few years back but just found this identical style for half the price!
Statement Tops
tried to be as practical as I could with my packing for this kind of a trip but had to bring a few statement pieces along too (because it’s Christmas in New York!). Embellished Knits and fun tops were an easy way to kick up the looks.
Shoes
The walking is endless on these trips so comfy sneakers and boots are a non negotiable. I wore these sneakers (brought both my white and black pair) for walking the city. I wore them for hours and they were amazing. I am normally a 7.5 in womens and wear a 6 in them.
I also invested in these combat boots years ago and they are one of my all time favorite designer splurges! They were great for night time and could be paired with dressier tops.
I am OBSESSED with these ankle boots (so comfortable) so I put them in the bag as well for dinner where we would be mostly taking cabs.
Easy Travel Style
I’m all about that comfy travel style so here are my go to pieces I always reach for…
I always get asked about our suitcases and travel cases so linking them as well. These suitcases I got for the kids have been SO good. We loved to collect stickers from all the places we travel to and they apply perfectly to these smooth surface carry ons. I also use this toiletry kit and this makeup bag every time I travel.
