Kitchen Reveal and Sub-Zero and Wolf Giveaway

I hope you ladies had a great Easter! We went to church and followed it up with a yummy brunch! After our pancake coma we headed home, put on our jama’s and had a Game of Thrones marathon! I couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday! On another note many of you know we’ve been making some upgrades to our kitchen and I wanted to share our progress with you!
Our Kitchen is by far the most important space in our home! We spend the majority of our time there so I really wanted to create a clean, fresh and inviting space. I wanted a space where we could share family meals, discuss our days as well as have my girlfriends over to drink wine and munch on appetizers. I’m really happy with how it turned out!  Here are a couple shots of the new updates to our kitchen…
After months of researching, paint swatching, marble shopping, hardware hunting and construction, our upgrades to our kitchen are FINALLY finished! Pinterest served as my main inspiration source (surprise surprise) as I shared some of my favorites with you a few months back on my kitchen upgrade inspiration post.  The look I was going for was a predominately white, French style kitchen with soft gray paint.  The biggest change to our kitchen was swapping out our black granite counters for carrera marble. It instantly brightened up the room! The next step was finding the perfect gray paint which was a lot harder than I thought it would be. We really loved the Benjamin Revere Pewter. Ultimately we ended up sticking with the same gray color we had (Benjamin Moore Nimbus) but just switching it from a gloss to matte finish. Our paint was SO close in color to the Revere Pewter that I didn’t want to spend a ton on painting when it would only be slightly darker. We also added some vibrant white crown molding and it seemed to really make the gray stand out.

Being that we RARELY eat at our actual dining table I wanted our kitchen island to be able to accommodate more people so I extended it by 6 inches. We swapped out our black wooden barstools for some industrial style gunmetal stools I had been drooling over! To add some finishing touches we switched our nickel faucet and cabinet knobs for chrome ones and am really happy with those little touches! The last thing that had to go were our ugly standard blinds. We had custom linen roman shades made and love how they turned out!
There were a few more upgrades I really wanted to do, but we had a budget and lets just say we went over it very quickly! Next on the list is a farmhouse sink and some chrome pendant lighting! Hopefully I can talk the hubby into those later this year. Wish me luck! 😉

  1. It would be a dream for us to have a kitchen like yours or any of the Sub-Zero and Wolf Brand designs! My favorite was picture with the bench seat in the background with the bay window (did you see that)? We have 4 small children soon to be 5 children in June all under 5 years of age! I am in the kitchen all of the time. Seating is definitely a need but also natural light for mood! We live in a state where it's cloudy too much so that's key for stay at home moms. I love the lighter cabinets and the islands where chairs face each other is pretty great too (especially for game nights)! So much to choose from. Thank you for sharing. I did get an error after I completed my vote, so praying it went through!

  2. I love your kitchen! The L-series looks so modern, especially after reading it's interior is blue! How different and unique.

  3. My husband and I recently bought our first home. One of the first renovations we will be doing is our kitchen. I also LOVE white kitchens so the 5 that I voted for really played on the white look with colorful accents. I also love butcher block counter tops so that one really stood out to me. Thanks for another great contest!

  4. Love, love, love your kitchen! We are building a house later this year and this is the same style we're going for. I'd love to win the contest!

  5. Your kitchen looks beautiful! Great job!

The kitchens that I voted for from Sub-Zero and Wolf were actually similar to yours in that they look clean and fresh, but also had an inviting warmth to them. Like a "come sit here and we'll chat and cook together" type of feel. 🙂

  6. I am not sure if my first comment went through…

I love the kitchen it is a great place for entertaining. I love all their stuff (Sub zero wolf). My favorite is the Wolf 48" Dual Fuel Range. When we build our dream kitchen I hope to have this range in my kitchen!

  7. We are in the process of totally re doing our kitchen, and I cannot get enough of the white cabinets and subway tile!! Love love!! You kitchen is beautiful! I basically voted for all the white ones, but love more of the comfy home feel to it! I loved the one with the built in dining, and another with the ladder. It was so different without going too over board or super modern!

  8. Oh my goodness Andee, I am so jealous of your kitchen. Tt's beautiful. I mean, seriously wow! Just think of all the bread batter, fondants, cookie and pastry dough that you can roll out on that cool, smooth (marble?) island — that was my first thought. You lucky gal, enjoy it 🙂 My kitchen is the size of your island, hahaha.

  9. Beautiful kitchen!! Looks like you will be enjoying lots of great food and company! It's amazing how you keep your counters so clutter free. 🙂

  10. Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful! I love it 🙂 In our next house I hope to have a white kitchen with glass front cabinets and white subway tile with white/gray marble counters. Such a classic look.

  11. Fantastic job on the kitchen! Little Ava will grow up sitting in those stools. I have the fondest childhood memories of countless snack times and dinners on the kitchen stools with my sisters!

The Sub Zero Wolf stuff is amazing! I voted for the one that was spacious yet super cozy!

  12. Can you write a blog in your lifestyle? You never say much about your background or what you or your husband do for a living? Also when and why you started blogging and what lead to having a successful blog. It's nice to know a background of someone you read so much about.

  13. Love your kitchen! I voted for the white kitchen with HUGE Wolf range and marble backsplash…love the clean simplicity and focus on the amazing range.

  14. I tried to vote for a kitchen, but wasn't able to see the options (maybe a problem with my computer or the website?) but I absolutely love your kitchen! If i could have voted, I would pick a kitchen with white cabinets and quartz counters, something light and bright : )

  15. Your kitchen is gorgeous! You have impeccable taste. I voted for the round kitchen in beige tones because it was different. Love your blog. Happy spring!

  16. Gorgeous kitchen! You have GREAT style! Please post pics of other upgrades to your place. Your blog inspires me everyday . . . it seems like you have such an amazing life!

  17. I love the white-on-white kitchen! I'm hoping to remodel mine in the next two years. I too have black granite and while I like the dramatic look in my kitchen, I'm ready for a fresh look and feel.

  18. I love your kitche. I only picked 3 to vote on. Honestly most of them seemed cold to me but there were 3 that seemed like a real family kitchen. I was raised that the kitchen was the center of the home and most of those seemed more like showplaces than homes.

  19. Hi Andee! Where did you get the 2-tiered fruit stand on your island? I have been searching for something similar for months!

    xx

  20. I voted for my top 5. I liked ones that had more modern appearances (the one with the see thru fridge door was pretty innovative) and also welcomed lots of light.

  21. I don't know the name of the design I voted for, but it was lovely with the hard wood floors, matching hard wood cabinets, the island, and soft lighting, and off white paint. It felt homey and comfortable, for a kitchen, and a kitchen I would want to be in all the time.

  22. Don't know if they still have them but we had a white farmhouse sink in our kithen from Ikea. My mom liked it so much she put it in her kitchen. It was a really nice sink. Just a thought to get the look you want on a budget…

  23. On the People's Choice Award site I voted for 5 kitchens; one with a French looking plaster hood over the range, one with a library ladder, one with a giant butcher’s block center island, one with smart looking black hardware and one with cool looking soda fountain stools. I did this really because all of those things in one form or another are things that I would like to do in my own kitchen.

  24. Love, love, love your kitchen. There's something so clean and bright with white kitchens. Voted for the white kitchen and I also like the Maple kitchen.
    Thanks so much.

  25. One that I voted for had a long, curved counter space! I loved the way it looked and all the room you had to work 🙂 My current kitchen is a tiny box with zero counter space, so I can appreciate having all that room 🙂

  26. I didn’t see which number I voted for but it had a curved doorway in the background and a vented hood with a pretty flower design in the back. I like it best because it isn’t so modern like a lot of the other ones.

  27. Beautiful kitchen! I love the look of the carrera marble, a lot more sleek looking than granite in my opinion. A SubZero giveaway?! My husband and I are searching for our first home right now! How perfect!

  28. i voted for one that looked very traditional with oak cabinets – They actually all looked amazing – this one just fit with my personal preference.

    debbiebellows (at) gmail (dot) com

  29. love grey and white! i voted for the one with the turquoise chair because it is a little funky but clean and pretty!scg00387 at yahoo dot com

  30. I voted for the ones that showed lots of storage space and easy to get to and clean countertops. I also liked that many of them show nice and warm looking wood accents.

  31. My favorite one was the one in the middle of the 11th row. I love the white cupboards and the contrasting color of the bar chairs.
    nuthouse(at)centurytel(dot)net

  32. I voted for 5 kitchens that had a touch of pastoral rustic grandeur such as exposed beams or whitewashed stone walls juxtaposed by a moderate infusion of sleek modernism. I also liked those kitchens that centered around a central dining table rather than an island. I prefer to eat in the kitchen at a large rough hewn table. Formal dining events are best left to restaurants for our family.

  33. I have saved this and shown it to my husband so that he is aware of how I would like our kitchen to look.

  34. I voted for the kitchen with the island with brown wooden drawers, sink and three seats because it's functionality for cooking with guest or kids and easy access to clean up with the sink and plenty of storage

    tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

  35. Am I the only one who was instructed to vote for 5? I had difficulty narrowing it down to 5. I particularly liked the stark stainless steel kitchen.

  36. I chose 5 designs all with natural wood colors. I much prefer oak or maple cabinets rather than white and I like a more traditional look in design.

  39. I loved so many of the kitchens in the contest that it was hard to only vote for 5 of them but I did. I loved the ones that were rustic/vintage/barn/modern the most. That is my personal style. I would kill for some of those kitchens!

  40. Hi Andee
Love your blog! Where did you get your rug in the kitchen? I have been looking for one but the only ones I have found have had thin stripes and I want thicker stripes.
    Thanks!

  41. My top choice has lots of white, hardwood floors and a wall of windows – 3 of my faves anywhere in the house.

  42. The ones i voted for were all bright and white and airy- i love the gorgeous look of your new kitchen!

  45. Since it's been about a year, I wanted to ask how you've been enjoying your Carrara Marble countertops? I have been drooling over Carrara for my kitchen for the last couple of years, but I have heard horror stories about Etching and Staining? I know you do a lot of juicing and chopping of fresh fruits/veggies… Have you had issues with your marble etching or staining from the acidity of some foods?

Hope to hear back! You are such an inspriration!!

    -Tanya

    1. thanks so much Tanya and sorry for the delayed response. We love the look of our kitchen but in the next house we definitely won't be doing carrera marble. Its very fragile and yes stains SO easily!

  46. I love your kitchen (and blog) – we are remodeling ours now and while I prefer the carrara marble I've read that its not the best choice for a kitchen because of its fragility. What's your opinion? How is yours holding up?

    1. hi irma I would recommend looking into another option. While it is beautiful its very fragile. The hubby and i both said we won't get it again in our next house. Hope this helps xo
