Honeybee Beauty: Eyebrow Guide

Many of you have requested a brow tutorial (and winged liner…post to come soon!) so today i’m tackling that. I’ll admit I have had some “not so great” years of eyebrows! It wasn’t until the last couple years that I feel like i’ve finally tackled it in a natural looking way. I was not blessed with big full eyebrows so there’s no plucking, waxing or tweezing for me. It’s all about filling them in the most natural way possible. Rather than trying to create a whole new shape I just try to enhance the natural shape of my brows. So here are some shots of my current brow routine…..
Before & After

So this is my guideline: 1.) Place your brush vertically with your nose and that where I start my brow.  2.) Angling my brush, I place it just under my pupil and that’s where my arch is and 3.) Taking my brush from the tip of my nose to the end of my eye thats where I finish my brow. (it shouldn’t go further than that).
Lastyly I always finish off with some brow setting gel and light highlighter
These are my brow products I couldn’t do without….
This Brow set from Benefit has been a go to of my mine for at least four years! I mainly use the left side of the palette that is more of a brown gel (the right is a powder/shadow). I find filling my brows in lightly with the gel side leaves a more natural look and then I just use the powder side to fill in the parts that are really sparse. I’ve mentioned this Nars highlighter before and love it. It’s one of the most natural looking highlighters and it lasts for forever! Lastly a great brush is KEY for shaping your brows and I have no complaints on this one I use from Mac! I hope this was helpful for you!

What brow products are you ladies loving?!

Benefit, NARS, M·A·C

  1. You do such a fantastic job of your beauty routine! I thought your brows wer naturally ful and beautiful! I will have to check out the Benefit product for sure! The gel formula sounds like it have good staying power. I've been using an Anastasia of Beverly hills powder and brow gel or Revlon eyeshadow in dusk, I also use a Sigma flat liner brush for my brows. Thanks for the tips, I adore your blog and style!!!

    1. oh thanks love! Always nice to hear you thought they were natural ;))) I have heard great things about Anastasia as well…may have to sample that one too! xo

  3. Thank you so much for posting! I have highlights about the same shade as when you had light hair. What shade of brow zings would you recommend for highlights? Also, what shade of nars highlighter do you use? Thanks for a great tutorial! This was fabulous!

    1. I see. Thank you for the reply. I was actually really happy to see this post because I love your eyebrows and was jealous of the thickness and shape. I figured you filled them in a little but would not have guessed that you fill them in to the extent that you actually do. It gives me hope that I too can have killer brows like you 🙂

  7. I totally have to fill mine in too! Next time your at Target, pick up the ELF brand eyebrow gel & powder set, its $3 & I SWEAR its the same! Been using it for about 2 years! And there brow/clear mascara is $1 and just as good as the Anastasia ones! Only trick is to thin out the gel the first few uses b/c it comes out thick at first!! PS love the beauty & health/nutrition posts! Keep em' coming!

    1. OOOOhhh gurl! I'm totally gonna try that ELF set. I've heard great things about it (and other ELF products) from acquaintances and on MakeUpAlley.

  8. Ah-mazing! I love how natural it looks. I've been using MAC brow pencil in "spiked" for a decade, but maybe I should trial your suggestions? My bff is a make-up artist and tells me it's all about technique. But maybe these products you feature makes it easier? Have you used MAC spiked? Thoughts? Thanks 😉

  9. Hi Andee! I'm new to your blog and absolutely love it. I have sparse brows too and was looking into semi permanent tattooing my brows? or maybe getting hairs implanted? Have you considered either of these? I was also wondering how you go in the pool or manage your brows in the summer or while working out? Do you ever have a problem with sweating and having them look weird? I'd love some advise!
