Christmas Time

I wanted to wish you all an early Merry Christmas!! I definitely haven’t been on my Christmas A game this year, that’s for sure! We didn’t get to do all the festive things I had planned, our tree died two weeks ago and our Christmas cards STILL haven’t been sent out yet! But all that being said i’m thankful for my family and all these fun (not so perfect) Christmas memories we’re still making 😉 Here are some shots i’ve been super behind on sharing from the last couple weeks….
Our Christmas tree (pre death) 😉

We decided to go with a real tree this year and loved it except that it only lasted two weeks. We also had to go buy new decorations because this tree was much bigger than our fake one  and even with the new decorations we only had enough to cover the front of the tree. lol

We also went with LED lights this year and my hubby told me they were “blinding”. I see where Ava gets her dramatic side from. 😉 I thought they were pretty!
One thing I did get checked off the list was our family ornament from Shutterfly. YEAH! Each year I have one made and hope to pass the ornaments on to Ava when she has a home of her own one day!
The entryway table has been Christmatized! The hubs isn’t into colored lights at all (since when do the men have such an opinion about Christmas decor?! 😉 so this was the only place I could sneak them in!
I love these big vintage Edison style light bulbs I purchased from Target! They double as our Christmas card display using some mini clothes pins from Michaels.
Our Christmas mantel! I added some matching Smith and Hawken wooden rose ball ornaments and faux garland branches from Target this year!
How sweet is it that my mom made our stocking this year?!
Fun with the cousins! These little Snowflakes stickers are the best $2 i’ve spent!
A little Christmas cookie baking and dominating! Louie was hoping for some crumbs 😉
And if you follow me on instagram (@andeelayne) you know that our trip to see Santa was a bust! I had a feeling it was going to end in tears but Ava was SO excited to see Santa on a fire truck in a parade a few weeks ago I thought maybe she’d really enjoy it. We waited in line for an hour and once we were up close and personal she was definitely NOT a Santa fan. Ava wouldn’t even let me put her down. My girlfriend told me to get in the picture with her and so here we have our creepy Santa picture lol. I definitely will be waiting a few years before we try “meeting” Santa again!

I hope your Christmas festivities are turning out a little better than ours ;)) and I wishing you all  a Merry Christmas and a blessed new year!!!

  1. I love your holdiay pics! Thank you for sharing! I have a quick makeup question. Do you use any powders to touch up your foundation throughout the day, or do you find that what you put on lasts? I've followed your makeup posts in the past, and never saw you mention a touch up powder, so I thought I would ask. Also, how do you do your deep side part? My hair always wants to part in the middle! Happy holidays to you and your family!

    1. You know i normally dont have to when i wear Estee lauder double wear foundation (that stuff doesnt budge!) or my Laura Mercier silk creme foundation. When I use my drug store foundation ill set it with Make Up Forever HD Microfinish powder. Hope this helps xo

  2. Have a wonderful Christmas!! That Santa picture is really something!! All 3 of you have so much "expression" on your faces. 😀 You should have had your husband dress up as Santa.

  3. All so pretty! I am not on top of Christmas this year either 🙁 and we get a real tree every year but this year ours died already too…. And totally amazing how many ornaments it takes to fill them! Where did you find the silver pearl like garland? Love the special touches of the ornaments and stockings! Merry Christmas!!!

  4. shutterfly and tiny prints make great personalized ornaments! Our tree died already too!! I was feeling so sad thinking ours was the only one that is looking pretty pathetic. My mom said maybe its because we've had the heater running a ton.. with a little one its been way too cold in Cali so the heater has been on constantly. Im sure you have yours running too so maybe thats why?

  8. Awww! That pic with Santa is priceless for Ava! But yeah, a little creepy too. hahah. Love your mantle, as always. Those stockings are gorgeous and the Edison bulbs are so fun! We ordered a couple of those kinds of ornaments too! I think they'll make great & sturdy keepsakes! Have a Merry Christmas!

  9. LOL I am dying of laughter over your comments about hubby having opinions of decorations. SO funny! Happy Holidays hun xo

  10. I love the yearly family ornament idea! I would love to read a post about some of things like that you are doing, to pass on to ava in the future.. My fiance received a huge photo album book from his mom on his 30th birthday that chronicled pictures and misc. things throughout his life- it was such an awesome and thoughtful idea.. These are things I want to start doing for my family… love your family ornament idea- will definitely start that tradition! 🙂 please share others! 🙂

  11. So I'm thinking the creepy Santa pic will be your favorite because it will be a funny story to tell your daughter. sometimes the things that don't turn out like we hoped have the most vivid memory and story to tell.
