Baby Bean Update

Sorry for lagging on the baby bump update but I finally feel like this tummy is really taking off! In the last two weeks I have noticed a big difference! Pregnancy so far has been good. No real morning sickness and as long as baby is healthy thats all i’m concerned about! Funny how you always hear people say that and then when it happens to you it really becomes your only concern. I’ve gained about 6 pounds so far and only cravings have been for acidic stuff like lemon, grapefruit and ginger. I started feeling kicks a couple weeks ago and have it to say it THE MOST amazing experience I have ever had in my life! It all just becomes so surreal and I feel instantly connected to this little bean growing inside!

18 Weeks

17 weeks (and belly button has been on the way out since week 10! WTH thought that didnt happen till the end haha)

15 Weeks

(And my pre pregnancy abs for motivation after baby bean arrives 😉

A lot of you have asked about my eating and working out since I’ve been pregnant. The working out has been cut back quite a bit. I do cardio twice a week (at a much less intensity) and strength training once a week. I find myself much more tired and getting getting winded quickly. I also did not like my first gym here so I signed up at another and am hoping that will help with the motivation.
As for eating I definitely have not been in the “feeding for two” mentality and think thats a huge misconception. I am lucky to not have crazy sweets cravings. I have indulged a few times but still stay on track with my normal healthy eating and have added a couple hundred extra calories a day. Even more so now than before I am trying to make sure to buy only organic foods. When you have a growing baby inside you it definitely make you rethink what you put in your body!

*Sorry for the pic overload. Ill try to update on the bump more frequently xo

  1. You look amazing!!!! SO cute! My belly button popped out early too … I think sometimes if you have abs they push it out when you're preggers. Haha.

I applaud you for not embracing the 'eating for two' mentality. A pregnant woman only really needs 300 extra calories a day … basically a bowl of cereal. Seems like you are doing everything you can for a healthy and happy pregnancy.

Can't wait to read more updates!!

  2. So lovely to read your update – you're looking gorgeous – this must be such an exciting time for you! Love your sensible approach to working out and eating. When I was pregnant with my twins, I didn't work out at ALL – just because I didn't want to risk anything…and luckily the weight came off in time…but if I had to do it again, I would do moderate exercise during the pregnancy just to keep everything in routine and healthy. But I guess your body will tell you what's right for you 🙂

  3. So precious Andee! You look amazing. So–you're getting close to anatomy scan time–are you going to find out the sex? I can't wait to see more pics!! My belly button never popped out-with either of my pregnancies. It's so funny how different things can be woman to woman. Also–my pregnancies were so different from each other too. I just love that that fact reinforces the uniqueness of the little person inside! I gained 55 lbs with my first and 40 with my second. If I ever have another one, I will be a much more mindful eater. You're so smart to do that the first time around!!

  4. You look incredible! and i totally agree about the eating thing! i've read that you really should only add about 300 calories a day to your diet, but i think so many women use pregnancy as an excuse to let go and eat whatever they want! i am 26 weeks and everyone keeps asking me if i'm eating everything in site yet… haha!

  5. So happy for you!!! You look awesome!! Do you guys now the sex of baby & decided on names yet? I can't wait to have little kids such a blessing! Can't wait to read more on your pregnancy updates, how is precious baby Louie doing? aaw she is gonna get along great with the new addition! wishing you guys all the best!! Xo

  6. You look great! Such an exciting time! I'm glad you are educated about the "eating for 2" lol.. I've had friends who literally ate probably an extra 1000 calories per day using their pregnancy as an excuse and then they would feel sorry for themselves when it was so hard for them to lose the 80 pounds they gained during their pregnancy. lol mean but true!

  7. you look great! i can only hope to glow like you when i`m preggo one day! i heard if you do pregnancy workouts and yoga, you bounce back faster and more easily! my gym has a bunch of classes just for women who are expecting, you might wanna check that out!

  8. Andee! You look AMAZING! So healthy, happy and beautiful! And your belly is adorable, I looked like you at 18 weeks, not much there but I could definitely tell the difference. You know your own body the best 🙂 Mad props to you for sticking to healthy eating and exercise! I hope you find a gym you like soon 🙂

  9. Ahh, thank you so much for sharing such personal photos! You apparently only need an extra 200 calories in the last 6 weeks of your pregnancy (that's what they told me anyway!), that's the equivalent of about 2 slices of toast! So, unfortunately, the eating for 2 myth is just that!! XXX

  10. wow! how can you still look so fiercely fit and be pregnant?? If and when I get pregnant, your pic will for sure be motivation to remain in shape, before, during and after it!

p.s just ran Nike SF half- thought you'd appreciate it!!

  11. WOW you look so amazing!! i hope to stay little like that too if I ever get pregnant. I'm a size zero and couldn't imagine gaining much weight during pregnancy, I think I would be extreamly depressed if I did lol. It's awesome that you don't have that eating for 2 mentality. gisele bundchen has said that when people get pregnant they use it as an excuse to eat whatever they want and since she never had that mentality she bounced right back to her slim self after the baby :). Do keep us updated and let us know the sex if you decide to find out!

  12. congrats again yummy mummy! Don't do too many exercises though, you don't want to strain yourself or anything….and i was wondering what your cravings were as well! :)) You look fab 🙂 Congrats to your hub as well, quite often the guy if left out 😀

  14. Omg, congratulations! You look great! Seriously. Can I guess you are going to have a girl? 🙂 Just my guess. Are you guys planning to find out the sex? Names? So exciting! 🙂

  15. thank you ladies so much for all your sweet and kind comments! it truly makes my day! I love hearing all your prego experiences too for all you mommies out there! Im glad im not alone on the whole eating for two thing. I definitely dont deprive myself and do indulge whenever the cravings strike 😉 but i am still trying to stay on with my normal healthy eating xo

  16. Aww. Yes, those baby kicks are amazing. I miss that sometimes because you will never be that physically close to your baby again. It's such an awesome experience "growing" a baby.

    Glad you're feeling well!

  17. you have such a cute baby bump! i hope I look that great pregnant. however, i have a sneaky suspicion that I will blow up like a swollen balloon haha

  18. Looks like a boy to me- are you going to find out?? I always like guessing what people are having (50/50 chance right??)- I was actually wrong with the guesses on my last two kids, but right on my first born! You look wonderful and so glad you feel good too- the flutter kicks are the best, but they do get bigger and better, which actually gets slightly freaky towards the end, but still cool nonetheless!

  19. Congratulations on your upcoming addition to your family! You look fantastic, I scrolled down and what a beautiful wedding! Thank you for stopping by, and I look forward to your future posts!

  20. I still see abs on you! Hahaha. One thing I found helped me, but I dunno if it works for everyone, is having hot showers as it helps soften your skin, and moisturising. When you keep your skin soft I think it prevents stretch-marks, it keeps the skin "flexible"? You will look the same after because you remind me of myself in some ways because I kept myself keen on working out after pregnancy and walking a lot during. I'm so excited to see your journey.

  21. Your blog is so useful and informative! I'm also not planning on eating for 2 and am also being super healthy – especially now that I'm pregnant. I'm 5'4 and 108 pounds and usually consume around 1300 calories a day. Could I ask what your calorie intake was pre pregnancy and during pregnancy? It looks like you put on just the right amount! Thanks in advance! 🙂
