Easy Voluminous Waves tutorial

Growing up as a tom boy it took me quite awhile to master the art of makeup and hair. It wasn’t until years later that I really started getting into it. I have to say watching hair and makeup tutorial videos  helped me tremendously! Seeing someone do it and explain it step by step is about as easy as it gets! Here’s a super Easy Voluminous Waves tutorial that I watched and recreated yesterday. Check out this quick tutorial and be sure to enter the giveaway at the end!

After losing all my fab pregnancy hair i’ll take any kind of volume I can get! 🙂 Here’s me trying the Easy Voluminous Waves…

I sectioned my hair and made some curls using a 3/4 inch curling iron. When you watch the video you’ll see you curls the hair in one direction and on the top layer of hair she curls it in the opposite direction. After I sprayed my hair generously with hair spray.

Lastly I used and brush and combed through it and it instantly added volume. I don’t usually brush through my curls and was hesitant but ended up really liking it!

Kitchen Reveal and Sub-Zero and Wolf Giveaway

I hope you ladies had a great Easter! We went to church and followed it up with a yummy brunch! After our pancake coma we headed home, put on our jama’s and had a Game of Thrones marathon! I couldn’t have asked for a better Sunday! On another note many of you know we’ve been making some upgrades to our kitchen and I wanted to share our progress with you!  Our Kitchen is by far the most important space in our home! We spend the majority of our time there so I really wanted to create a clean, fresh and inviting space. I wanted a space where we could share family meals, discuss our days as well as have my girlfriends over to drink wine and munch on appetizers. I’m really happy with how it turned out!  Here are a couple shots of the new updates to our kitchen… After months of researching, paint swatching, marble shopping, hardware hunting and construction, our upgrades to our kitchen are FINALLY finished! Pinterest served as my main inspiration source (surprise surprise) as I shared some of my favorites with you a few months back on my kitchen upgrade inspiration post.

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation Sponsored Post & Giveaway

As a mom on the go, I look for a lightweight foundation with SPF that provides just enough coverage to even out my skin tone and leaves me with a natural glow. Revlon Nearly Naked™ Makeup really is exactly that! This is a light weight foundation that melts right into your skin and the best part about this product is that it truly feels as if you aren’t even wearing makeup! It contains a blend of green tea, black tea, oatmeal and jojoba to help maintain your natural glow. Finding a foundation with an SPF is a MUST and this one has a broad spectrum SPF 20. It goes on super smooth, blends out nicely and doesn’t leave you with that caked on makeup look! I also really love how this foundation doesn’t have a heavy perfume scent like some other brands. I highly recommend this as I know it will be my go to product, especially for summer!
It comes in sixteen different shades so finding my perfect match was easy!  The colors are Ivory, Vanilla, Shell, Nude, Fresh Beige, Natural Beige, Medium Beige, True Beige, Warm Beige, Sun Beige, Natural Tan, Nutmeg, Toast, Caramel, Chestnut, & Cappuccino. The color I used was Natural Beige.

Fekkai Hair Products

I don’t know about you but when it comes to hair products, I have the hardest time finding ones I LOVE. I am constantly on the hunt for something that really makes a difference with my hair. When I do finally find one I love, I stick with it.  Fekkai is definitely one of those brands!  The Fekkai glossing shampoo, conditioner and glossing cream are must have staples in my beauty routine. I did a post last year on my favorite hair products and the Fekkai shampoo, conditioner and glossing cream were on that list. A year later those products are still some of my favorites! I’ve tried several different brands but I keep going back to these!

The glossing shampoo, conditioner and cream are all made with olive oil and they leave my hair feeling soft and shiny. The way a product smells is also something that is important to me. These smell fresh and are not over powering like some of the other brands.

The glossing conditioner makes my hair feel super smooth and the glossing cream takes it to the next level!

My hair has been super dry after lightening my color recently so i’ve been using my glossing cream religiously.

Cetaphil Products Sponsored Review and Giveaway

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Cetaphil products for years now, so it was a no-brainer to do a post on them. When I became pregnant, I found out that here were a ton of products you have to steer clear of. I went in to see my dermatologist and she recommended Cetaphil products. I immediately switched to their face wash and moisturizing cream and continue to use them now as I’m still nursing. I have really noticed a huge difference in my skin since switching to Cetaphil products. My skin feels clean, soft and my breakouts have been minimal! Cetaphil products are recommended by more dermatologists than any other brand. Cetaphil products are also the #1 pediatrician recommended brand of cleansers and moisturizers. The Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser is fragrance-free and non-comedogenic, which is perfect for sensitive skin. The best part about these products is that they are super affordable! I love that they get the job done and don’t break the bank! I plan on continuing to use the Cetaphil products even after I stop nursing as well.

The Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is a non-greasy cream formula that is excellent for the hands,

Ava's 8 Month Update

I’m so sorry I have seriously lagged on Ava’s update posts lately. I think the last one I did was 5.5 months! I often saw other mommy bloggers skipping the monthly updates as their babies got a bit older and now I know why. There comes a point where you are going non stop and these little ones are into EVERYTHING. We have definitely hit that stage! Lots of big milestones have happened since our last check in so i’ll get started with those!

Sleeping Through the Night: (I’m talking 12 hour stretches sleeping through the night) at 6 months. She goes down at 7pm and usually wakes up at 7am. Her naps are becoming a little longer now. She takes a morning nap for about and hour and then two more mini naps throughout the day (usually 1230 and 330). Lets just say she is a HOT mess if girlfriend doesnt get those naps!
Clothes: Ava’s wearing 12 month clothes and nothing smaller! We are about to up the diaper size and step in the size 4 territory! This little lady still has the yummiest cheeks and thighs but she has lengthened out a bit and lost some of her chub (so sad to see it go!).

Rachel Zoe’s Major Must Haves from Jockey Sponsored Review

I can’t tell you how excited I was to receive some goodies to try out from Rachel Zoe’s “Major Must Haves” from Jockey! The combination of Jockey’s comfortable, high-quality apparel and Rachel Zoe’s style was right up my alley! Rachel’s selections include intimates (panties and camisoles) and shapewear. I have to say these items did not disappoint!

How cute are these intimates?! Leave it to RZ to pick fun and trendy prints. I love the flirty lace detail on the boy shorts. Each piece is made with breathable, soft cotton spandex, perfect for all-day comfort. What more could you ask for?! I’m a HUGE fan of shapewear. Even before I had a baby I would wear it with certain dresses to keep everything smooth and tight. Unfortunately, the other brands would be way too tight and I couldn’t wait to get out of them at the end of the day! That wasn’t the case with the Jockey pieces. The cotton-rich design is perfect for keeping the pieces tight while still maintaining comfort! I’m obsessed with the shapewear Strappy Tank! Its three-panel design was comfortable, fashionable and slimming (not to mention easy to nurse in).

Tide Pods Sponsored Review

As a wife and new mom the loads of laundry are out of control at my house! You would think we had a family of five with the amount of laundry I do in a week! Tide has been my go-to brand for years so I was beyond excited when they asked me to try their Tide Pods.† Tide Pods are a 3-in-1 detergent that clean, brighten and fight stains. Just one of these little babies removes more stains than 6 caps of the liquid bargain brand*. They are the only 3-chamber unit dose on the market and are super easy to use! You just put one in your washer, add your clothes and go! The best part for me was not having to deal with the messiness of pouring the liquid into a cap because I usually end up getting it all over the place. With a new baby who’s learning to eat (which means lots of stains on everyones clothes) and a husband who seems to have an endless pile of smelly workout clothes, I need a detergent that can get our laundry clean without fading our clothes. Tide Pods do just that!

Honeybee Health: Random Shots

Pre cut veggies are a must! I usually put these out with some sort of lower calorie dip before our dinner or lunches so we fill up on this before our main meal.

Grocery cart check in… lean proteins, lots of veggies/fruits with some sweet lower calorie treats! ONE coconut water “with a splash of mango” is pretty much the only coconut water I can drink! So if you aren’t a huge fan of coconut water I would give these a try before you give up on them all together! Note not all of my items are “organic”. I’ll share my list of what I buy organic in another post but  I just try to balance where I can.  My current favorite dish at Zinc cafe…the stuffed bell pepper and side salad! MMMmmm Oldie but goodie…Mashed avocado on whole grain bread with a touch of sea salt! Delish and great source of healthy fats! Ahi salad with avocado, and edamame from True Foods Kitchen is so yummy! As always drinking “The Natural” which is soda water, fresh ginger and agave!  And what’s Fall without some apple pie?!
