Travel Guide // Cabo San Lucas

Sorry for the delay but TONS of requests and questions from our Cabo trip so I’m sitting down today and tackling this post for you girls! If you girls have been following along for a few years or so, you know we always love going to Cabo once a year. In today’s post, I’m sharing our favorite places to stay, eat, drink, things to do, and answering some of your DM’s, too!

Where to Stay

So many of you girls sent questions and DM’s about the place we were staying and it was The Resort at Pedregal. If you’ve been following along for a while, you girls have probably noticed this is our favorite resort. It is absolutely stunning and the service is unlike anywhere else. It’s super kid-friendly and where we’ve stayed every time we bring the kids with us.

The adult pool and kids pool are both AMAZING!

Some of Ava’s friends were actually vacationing there too this time so needless to say she had the time of her life when her little buddies showed up!

The property is seriously SO charming

the resort at pedregal

We’ve stayed at just about every room on this property and they are all amazing. We’ve done the 2-3 bedroom suites and villas (when we’ve come with more people) and we’ve also done their one bedroom/standard room, and honestly they’re just as amazing too. The rooms are so big (with a huge bathroom ) so if you’re traveling with two little ones the standard rooms are absolutely doable!

the resort at pedregal

and without a doubt, the best feature about the rooms is that EVERY room has a plunge pool off the patio!! It’s amazing for when you just want to chill in the room and don’t want the kids to drive you nuts, they can go splash around in there.

Rise and Shine and these two hamburgers are in the pool!

The daily delivery service on. the. dot. at 4pm!

Most of the resorts in Cabo are right on the sand and what I love about this one is it’s not off any main beach so the beaches are pretty private.

The soup of the day 😉 (or week I should say)

What?! What?! Alone time at the adult pool?!

You guys we literally did not know what to do with ourselves! So we haven’t ever been away from our kids for more than 24 hours and we ALWAYS take them with us when we travel together. I’m sure you mama’s can relate that sometimes it doesn’t always feel like a vacation when you travel with your little ones. This was the FIRST TIME in SIX YEARS that both of the kids were in kids club! They literally woke up everyday at 8am excited to go and see what activities they were doing. It was just such a game-changer.  It was so nice to hang at the adult pool kid free for a couple hours each day. Now I know it won’t be like that every place we stay (most places I think they have to be 5) but hang in there mom’s who are holding out for those relaxing vacays 😉

Snacking poolside!

The Resort at Pedregal is a bit on the pricey side but honestly there are SO many great resorts in Cabo!

CABO AZUL is super cute looking and in the mid price range, as well as GRAND SOLMAR.

THE CAPE

is an AMAZING place to stay and actually really recommend if you’re going without kids. We did a girls trip there last year and it was beyond amazing and obsessed w the decor! You can see my photo overload post on it HERE!

I still have One and Only Palmilla and Las Ventanas on my list to stay as well!

If you have favorites PLEASE feel free to share as I’m sure everyone reading would love to know too!

Where to eat

Okay for restaurants we definitely have our favorites that we hit up every time we’re in town and two places that we also reserve are Edith’s and Flora Farms.

EDITHS CABO SAN LUCAS

edith's restaurant cabo

Edith’s is right in the heart of dow town and is a super charming and yummy Mexican restaurant. It’s really family friendly and not overly expensive. They always have amazing daily catches and you have to have their tableside banana flambé.

I mean look at this peek-a-boo view!

Flora Farms is another place that you HAVE to put on your list! I raved about it in this post HERE (with more picture overload) but it seriously is a gem!! It’s off the beaten path (literally you go down a crazy bumpy dirt road) to the little hidden gem that every inch is photo worthy. They are a farm-to-table restaurant so everything is super fresh and REALLY good!

They are also super family friendly with tons of space for the kids to run around. They have a pond where they can feed the ducks and a big playground too that my littles always enjoy.

flora farms

They have live entertainment in the evening and amazing house-made ice cream on site!

Not to mention THE BEST margaritas in Cabo! They have a ton of unique margarita recipes some with carrot, beets and ginger…but honestly all of them are delish!

flora farms cabo san lucas

Love love love Flora Farms!

acre cabo san lucas

Okay Acre has been on my list to try since last year and we were so bummed when we didn’t make it on our last trip. It’s right down the road from Flora Farms and is definitely one of the chicest spaces! The design is so rad and every corner is photography worthy. They have tree houses on property that were SO awesome (I shared a ton of snaps you can still see on my CABO highlight tab on my Instagram profile) if you’re looking for a more adventurous stay option over a resort.

This place was seriously SO beautiful!

acre cabo

We went for any early dinner with the little ones and the kids had so much fun exploring the property. The have tons of animals on property (including a mini donkey) too.

The food was really good but honestly I would probably recommend them more for drinks later in the evening. I hear people go to Flora Farms for dinner then pop over to Acre for drinks after but the property is so gorgeous and photogenic that I feel like you should see it in the day!

other restaurants I would recommend are…

THE CLIFFSIDE RESTAURANT AT ESPERANZA RESORT
(Not sure the exact name but if you call resort they will connect you) It’s where they shot The Heartbreak Kid and the views are stunning!

EL FARRON at THE RESORT AT PEDREGAL

It’s pricey but definitely an amazing experience and literally on a cliff (we saw seals last time we at there)

TORO

If you’re looking for good food and more chicer adult scene

SUNSET DA MONA LISA

I’ve seen it quite a bit on Instagram and it has AMAZING views!

and I’m definitely checking out SUR BEACH HOUSE on our next trip!

It looks so pretty and it’s supposed to be really good for brunch.

and I HIGHLY recommend the rooftop bar at THE CAPE HOTEL for drinks!

What to pack

Okay let me just say I love a trip where all I have to pack is resort wear! I’m all about effortless pieces that can be remixed several ways, thrown on in a hurry but still look cute! Here are a few things that I always pack….

vacation style cabo

PAREO’s are a MUST for me! I love a good wrap and there are so many cute ones out right now. They’re the perfect piece to quickly throw on when you’re headed to the pool and I love that they still look cute while hiding your day 2 or 3 of cocktail and food over indulging.

I seriously LIVED in this pom pom one. This One is a great pick on a budget and I just ordered This One and am obsessed w the colors and style!

Okay let’s talk accessories. I’ve been an overpacker in the past but these days it’s all about one or two wide brims. I brought This Budget Friendly One and This More Fab Style (that I’ve worn for years).

For shoes I’m all about bringing two pairs and keeping them neutral so they can be worn with any kind of look.

These Sandals are the best budget-friendly pair I own! They’re the pair you want to wear when you basically just want to be in flip flops but want them to look a little more pulled together

You girls know I love These Wedges. The best under $80, go with everything, come in several colors and are comfy too!

For bags I like to pack a small clutch or straw tote (because I have a serious straw tote addiction). I like to keep them on the smaller side so I can just toss them in my suitcase. A beach tote is always a must and THIS ONE is one of my all time favorites that I’ve been using for years. I just realized this trip how much I actually appreciate it because it’s cute, sturdy and isn’t structured so you can easily just toss it in your suitcase and don’t have to lug it through the airport.

and definitely bring out the Fun Swimwear! Whether it’s a killer one piece, a high waist bikini or a statement suit bring them ALL on! Here are some of my current favorites….

vacay style

vacay style mara hoffman dress

and lastly, it’s all about the comfy dresses! Maxi’s, midis, sundresses…bring them all on! I’m all about a comfy piece you can just throw on and go!

a few you of you messaged about Style for Men so here are what I usually get for my hubby…

Fun printed swim trunks, basic tee’s, sandals, slip-on shoes, white denim/linen pants, one or two button downs or polos for dinners out and a hat to thrown on and go!

Your Questions

Okay now to tackle some of your questions too….

Q:We’re heading to Cabo at the end of June and am wondering if there are any cool things we have to do (places to go without the kiddos)?

A: Defintely check out the fun restaurant and bar rec’s above but as far activities we pretty much go there to chilllll. That being said when the hubby and I first got married (and pre kiddos) we had such an amazing time. We went in February and it was really cool because there are SO many whales migrating during that time of year. They have tons of cruises and excursions that will take you out them and it’s amazing to see. They also have a swimming with dolphins in downtown and you can take a sunset cruise to Lover’s Beach to see the amazing arch in the rocks and tons of seals.

Q: Can you share your transportation to and from Flora Farms? We don’t want to rent a car but looking for safe transportation back and forth! Thx

A: So Flora Farms is def a good 20 minute ride from most of the main resorts. When were with the kids we hire a car service through the resort because we want to bring them in car seats. It’s a bit more expensive but i’m a worrier with the car seats especially on long rides so we definitely go the car service route. Now when I go with my girlfriends we just got a taxi through the resort which was fine too. Flora Farms has a constant flow of taxi’s waiting so you’ll have no problem getting one on the return trip too.

Q: Love your trip recaps! Hubby, kids fashion as well as yours would be awesome! Any great sunscreen and beach pool gear would be awesome too! Always on the hunt for good items there!

A: Thanks love! See above for all the vacay fashion. As far as sunscreens I really love face sticks for the kids and spray for the body. I’m really loving This Brand right now and have both stick and the spray. But honestly my products aren’t always organic. The important part is they’re wearing sun screen. I use Sun Bum, this Neutrogena One and This One that are all great for under $10. As far as pool gear we always bring goggles for Ava and This Pool Floatie is hands down the best on the market! We take it with us every time we travel!

Q: Other than the kids club did you use the babysitting services at Pedregal?

A: You know I haven’t used a babysitting service at a hotel yet but I have quite a few friends that have. I prefer the kids club where it’s a group setting. That being said I think if you find someone at kids club you and your kids like i’m sure if you exchanged info they’ll babysit. At least you know that person has a full time position at the resort and has been vetted. etc.

Q: I know you travel to Cabo often but do you feel safe there? We’ve always wanted to go there but I am a little nervous.

A: You know a lot of you girls has asked this and I totally feel you. There’s so much craziness going on the world…literally everywhere. There are only a couple places in Mexico that I would travel to and Cabo is still one of them. I feel like you do still need to be conscious ( and a little paranoid) but I really do feel pretty safe in Cabo and they’ve done a really good job at making the downtown area clean, pretty and tourist friendly.

Q: I always like to see what you eat on vacay or what modifications you make to food/drinks. Also if you have a fave sunscreen..airplane tips with kiddos…

A: Oh good request! I’ve been trying to share more Andee’s Eats snaps with you girls but I will make an effort on our upcoming trip to take more vacay food/drink  snaps for you girls!

Oh and airplane tips with the kiddos….

See This Post HERE where I talked about bringing a car seat on the plane! ( GAME CHANGER)

we  also download new movies/games or TV shows on the iPad and don’t let them watch it till we’re up in the air (These iPad Covers are The BEST!)

Snacks and random new small toys will always buy you a bit of time if someone is melting down

Ava and I recently started playing GO FISH on the plane and she’s obsessed…so a deck of card is a must for us

and we bought some super cute/fun headphones the kids are excited about but we only let them use them when we travel. This pair for Luca and This Pair for Ava

If you girls have more questions feel free to leave them in the comments below! I always check and answer them!

Until next time CABO! I hope that this was helpful for you girls and you can still see TONS of snaps and videos from our trip all on my CABO highlights tab at the top of my instagram profile! (@andeelayne)

  1. Can you get in the ocean at the Cape hotel? I’m trying to plan a Cabo trip but I think I would like to be able to get in the water. I’ve read that most beaches aren’t swimmable. I’m going back and forth between booking the cape or the one and only palmilla. Thanks!
