Everyday Fall Layering with Macy’s

Thank you to Macy’s for partnering with me on this post

Living in SoCal, there’s not a huge need for heavy coats and jackets. Transitional pieces are definitely KEY and it’s all about the those light layers. There are a few layering essentials I live in here during the Fall/Winter. I know it’s not the same layering as my East Coast girls are used to, but layering is layering right?! 😉 Since we’re in between warm and cold weather right now, I’m teaming up with Macy’s and sharing a few new transitional pieces that will take me through the season.

Studded Leather Jacket  (now on SALE for 50% OFF! i’m wearing an XS) Sanctuary Flannel

A Flannel is ALWAYS a good idea

If there’s one thing I layer more than anything, it’s a flannel. A flannel is a no brainer go to piece that keeps me warm under something like a leather jacket but is also substantial enough to wear alone as well. I love the one in today’s post from a brand that Macy’s carries called Sanctuary. Sanctuary makes really amazing on trend pieces at a great price point too. (the one i’m wearing  in today’s post is by Sanctuary and on SALE now too!) Like i’m sure many of you girls can relate, I literally live in flannels. I also like to wear them casually tied around my waist when I have workout clothes. It provides a little coverage andddd also distracts from the fact that I’m wearing workout clothes ALL day lol. If you’re looking for some great flannels definitely check out the selection of Sanctuary pieces at Macy’s.

Transitional Jackets are a MUST

Whether it’s a leather jacket, a trench, a bomber or sometimes even something heavier like a down puffer jacket, they’re the one Fall Closet essential that is non negotiable. Maybe all I need is a long-sleeve underneath. Or maybe the jacket is roomy enough for a shirt and a chambray or flannel. Since jackets are more limited or are a certain vibe, it’s easier to build off that. Macy’s has tons of really great classic options and some really fun options as well….

Keep a trend in mind

Layering is obviously a huge part of keeping warm, but I do believe you can stay warm while still looking cute. So when shopping for fall and winter pieces, I like to keep in mind that I’ll need to be layering certain items. Flannels, thermals and great fitting basics are necessities to stock up on but I also love to throw in some fun pieces as well to add just a little something extra to the look.  Like a studded leather jacket (this one by Sanctuary in today’s post is so fun with the studded detail!), or a cropped bomber, which is also a fall must. Try to keep your personal style in mind when buying items to layer, or when adding layers on.

Do you girls have any layering tips for fall? What’s your favorite item to layer?
