My Five Minute Holiday Smokey Eye

I don’t know about you girls but I am quick and easy makeup kind of girl. I lalalove makeup but I definitely don’t have time to spend 30 mins getting ready these days. I had so much fun putting this post together and am sharing how to create a quick and easy holiday smokey eye (i’m talking under five minutes!) using only Drug Store makeup!

The GOODS!

I bought my primer, foundation, councealer, mascara and eyeliner all from my local Kroger Family of Stores! They carry all the big name brands and are all budget friendly!  (They have tons of great coupons you can download too at Kroger.com/beauty)

This literally took me 5 minutes and all the products to create this whole look was under $30! Alright let’s get to it….I start out using my Revlon Primer and followed it up with My Revlon Youth FX Foundation (I use the color Natural Beige)

Next Up (and Pro Tip) Always use some sort of base for your eyeshadow.

Did I mention I like quick and easy?! 🙂 I usually use one of these Revlon Paint pots (or you can use one of those Jumbo Eye Liner Pencils). The goal is just to create some sort of creamy base for the eyeshadow to stick to and last all night long. I love that this one is  metallic and has a bit of shimmer to it. When it  goes on it has  a soft metallic purple glow. I am going for a darker smokey eye so I chose a darker color base. If you’re doing a brighter or more neutral eye you would want to opt for a lighter complimenting base color.

I use my finger and apply it all over the lid blending out evenly.

Next Up I go in with my Revlon Purple Eyeshadow and apply all over the lid (on top of my base I just applied)

Next Up….a quick contour. Girls Contouring makes ALL the difference! I feel like I should do a more in depth post on this (so let me know if you want to see it and i’ll put one together for you) I use this one by Maybelline and it always does the trick. I have a wider nose so I always like to contour the sides to make it appear narrower than it is.

When I do my smokey eyes I don’t like to use a million different colors. I typically just use two to three shades and call it a day. For this look I only used a purple shadow and a black shadow (see next step) but I always like to add a little warmth in my crease.

If you want a lazy girl make up tip…just take whatever’s left on your brush from contouring and apply it in my crease to add a little depth and warmth.

Next I go in with the darker and add it to just the Outer V of my eyelid.

The key is to blend it in well but still leaving the outer corner slightly darker.

I like to elongate in the outer V bringing it out a bit further than my eyelid. (and if it gets a little too wild 😉 don’t be afraid to go back in and clean it up a bit with a little concealer on a flat edge brush). I think take whatever shadow is left on the brush and bring it under the bottom lash line.

Liquid Liner is a girls best frand! 😉 I used this Revlon liner to create a bold cat eye.

Winged liner can be tough (but i’ve literally been doing this for 15 years now) but having that smokey winged outer V to use as guide makes it so much easier. (Insider tip…you can also you a small piece of scotch tape! I should do a little insta story for you girls!)

To finish off the eyes I applied my Covergirl Masacara (this one is great and LOVE the curled wand!) and use my Covergirl eyeliner in my waterline.

Next step (you’re almost done….)add a little glow! This Strobe highlighter from Maybelline packs a big punch. I use a small amount on my finger and tap and blend it well on the tops of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose.

Lastly I go back in with a bit of my Revlon Concealer and clean up and brighten under my eyes.

REVLON EYESHADOW

and it’s the holiday’s so don’t afraid to kick it up a notch (without sounding like Emeril 😉 and add some false lashes! There are so many budget friendly ones out there and they always just give a little more glam to any makeup look!
